Just 5 minutes before midnight turning into October 21, 2012 an Earthquake on the Eastern edge of the Salinas Valley gave buildings in Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula a good shake.
Did you feel the earth quake shake our Peninsula at midnight? That’s the largest one I’ve felt in years.
It was right on the San Andreas Fault – centered South-East of Salinas, East of and slightly North of King City. One person reported feeling it as far North as Sebastopol in Marin County and 4 people felt it in in Goleta, next to Santa Barbara. Three people reported feeling it in Yosemite National Park and several people East of the Sierras reported it. In the first hour seventy-five people reported feeling it in Monterey.
I felt a little bit of something, then quiet, then it returned and gave the Pacific Grove home I’m in a good shake – lasting maybe 5 seconds. The building swayed a little.
Let me invite you to write what you felt what happened where you were and your general location. Happy Holidays !
