It took the Sierra Club some 8 years to catch on to County Supervisor Dave Potter’s systematic Eco-Fraud.
How much longer before everyone catches on to Bill Kampe’s harmful intent and acts?
Kampe’s bad acts are now affecting our greater Peninsula community.
On a major water and development issue Kampe just cast a key vote against County Supervisor Jane Parker (by far the most public interest minded Supervisor in the past 30 years) and for Sand City Mayor David Pendergrass (the Peninsula’s most pro-development elected official).
“The board in January split 6-6 between Pendergrass and progressive Supervisor Jane Parker for the important committee. Supervisor Dave Potter, who was absent previously, voted for Pendergrass, and Pacific Grove Mayor Bill Kampe switched his vote to the Sand City mayor.” -Monterey Herald, “FORA lawyer quits, saying job isn’t fun anymore” March 15, 2013
Do not mistake Kampe’s vote for that of a merely uninformed novice. He knew exactly what he was doing. Kampe fully intended to block Jane Parker so developers could have a vast majority on the Water Board – and get as much water for development as they can.
If Kampe’s bad direction goes unrecognized and unchecked much longer – he could end up doing a lot more harm to our environment and participatory democracy than you can imagine. He’s not as lazy as Potter, so he has the potential to make Potter’s bad acts look amateurish.
Remember Kampe was in Marketing – he knows how to make black look white.
He did the impossible in getting Thom Akeman to run his campaign, then gleefully signed the tree destruction ordinance. That undermined a lot of Thom’s effort to protect Pacific Grove trees on the Natural Resources Committee.
I can only hope President Lincoln was right – “you can’t fool all the people all the time.”

If you attend any meetings and follow his local decisions you will find that he also supports the commercialization of PG over the welfare of the residents. Take a look at the children’s pool for example. The city wastes $100,000s on studies, salaries, and pensions while parents have to go begging for donations to fix up the pool that should’ve been the city’s responsibility all along.
I totally agree! He has his own agenda (special interests) and public interests are not a priority even in his town of PG. He is known to switch or change his votes as well! The FORA executive board isn’t looking so good……………….you have to have watchdogs keeping an eye on the public’s business, or what happened at FORA will happen again and again.
