{"id":1264,"date":"2011-05-31T22:57:52","date_gmt":"2011-05-31T22:57:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daviddilworth.com\/pol\/?p=1264"},"modified":"2011-09-10T21:32:40","modified_gmt":"2011-09-10T21:32:40","slug":"finally-the-first-official-recognition-that-cell-phones-can-cause-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/daviddilworth.com\/pol\/finally-the-first-official-recognition-that-cell-phones-can-cause-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Finally-The First Official Recognition that Cell-Phones Could Cause Malignant Brain Cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Landmark News !<\/p>\n<p>This morning a panel of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/en\/\">World Health Organization (WHO),<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iarc.fr\/\">the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC),<\/a> changed their position declaring now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iarc.fr\/en\/media-centre\/pr\/2011\/pdfs\/pr208_E.pdf\">that Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields (of cell-phones and by association WiFi, cordless phones and Smartmeters) can possibly cause a malignant type of Brain Cancer.<\/a> The formal classification is &#8220;2B.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2011\/HEALTH\/05\/31\/who.cell.phones\/index.html?hpt=hp_p1\">CNN article<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/well.blogs.nytimes.com\/2011\/05\/31\/cellphone-radiation-may-cause-cancer-advisory-panel-says\/?hp\">The New York Times reports &#8211; <\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.microwavenews.com\/\">Louis Slesin, editor of Microwave News<\/a>, a newsletter that focuses on nonionizing radiation, said in an e-mail that the fact that the W.H.O.\u2019s cancer panel had expressed concern had the potential to change the debate about the health risks of cellphones. \u201cIt\u2019s a wake-up call for the telecom industry and for the U.S. government to take cellphone radiation seriously,\u201d he said. \u201cThe first step should be limiting the use of cellphones by children.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe panel didn&#8217;t do any new research, they just <a href=\"http:\/\/1hope.org\/hopeblog\/?p=999\">reviewed the same research that I have been studying for HOPE for the past six months and came to the same conclusion.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iarc.fr\/en\/media-centre\/pr\/2011\/pdfs\/pr208_E.pdf\">The IARC Report<br \/>\n<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iarc.fr\/en\/media-centre\/iarcnews\/2011\/monograph102.php\">The Proceeding of the IARC Panel<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I urge you call <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>Assemblyman Monning<\/strong> and let Bill and his staff know of this landmark news.<\/p>\n<p>Monterey: 649-2832<br \/>\nSanta Cruz: 425-2570<\/p>\n<p><u>To Do:<\/u><br \/>\nPlease consider asking <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>Assemblyman Monning<\/strong> to introduce <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>ASAP<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/1hope.org\/hopeblog\/?p=1250\">a bill that requires an Environmental Impact Report before any more &#8220;Smart&#8221;meters are installed.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Personal Alternatives:<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s a lot of misguided advice about how to protect yourself from the radio frequency radiation.<\/p>\n<p>Good &#8211; Use <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Speakerphone\">Speakerphone<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Text_message\">Text Message<\/a> options so the cell-phone transmitter is a few feet away from your head.<\/p>\n<p>Good &#8211; Wired-headset (earphone) &#8211; has no radio transmitter.<\/p>\n<p>Good &#8211; Ear phone with tube like a stethoscope (no wires or radio transmission) Example: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.headsetairtube.com\/\">AirTube Headset<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Good &#8211; Turn off cell phone when not in use. Consider putting it somewhere else than in your pants pocket &#8211; NOT near your family jewels.<\/p>\n<p>Bad &#8211; Bluetooth. The radio frequency radiation of the two are close enough that both were included in the <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>WHO<\/strong> decision.
