Ok — What’s the world’s tallest mountain ?<\/p>\n

Did you know a correct answer to this depends on your definition ?<\/p>\n

1. Do you want to know what point is father from the center of our Earth?<\/p>\n

2. Or do you want to know what is the tallest mountain from bottom to top<\/b> ?<\/p>\n

3. Or do you want to know what is the tallest mountain from sea level<\/b> ?<\/p>\n

It makes a difference because the answers to these are three different mountains.<\/p>\n

The tallest mountain from sea level – is what most people think of. That would be\u00a0Mount Everest or Chomolungma<\/b> (Tibetan) or Sagarmatha<\/b> (Nepali)<\/a> on the Nepal\/Tibet Border at some 29,029<\/strong> feet.<\/p>\n

But the tallest mountain from base to top<\/strong> is Hawaii’s Mauna Kea<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Its only 13,800 feet above sea level, but when you include its underwater base it reaches over 33,000 feet<\/strong> (10,000 meters).<\/p>\n

However, we have another surprise for you.<\/p>\n

Since our planet is not totally round (its a bit like\u00a0 squashed ball), mountains at the equator are farther from the Earth’s center than mountains equally high above the ocean at the poles.<\/p>\n
